DOUGLASS DUMBRILLE  BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Douglass Dumbrille was born on October 13th, 1889 in Hamilton, Ontario in Canada.  Originally he began working at a bank and after coming to the realization that he wanted something different for his career, he became interested in acting and chose to join a number of traveling stock companies.
 
He began with working in a number of stage productions such as, "Macbeth" (1924), "The Call of Life" (1925), "Chinese O'Neill" (1929), "As You Desire Me" (1931), "Child of Manhattan" (1932) and  the musical version of, "The Three Musketeers" (1928).
 
Along with working as a stage actor he was also working as a silent film screen actor appearing in such movies as, "The Declaration of Independence" (1924), "His Woman" (1931), "Blondie of the Follies" (1932), "Laughter in Hell" (1933), "Baby Face" (1933), "Broadway Bill" (1934), "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer" (1935) and he later reprised his stage role in the film, "The Three Musketeers" (1939).
 
As his career progressed eh began to focus more on television appearances and could be seen on such series as, "Laramie" (1959), "The Dupont Show with June Allyson" (1960), "77 Sunset Strip" (1962), "Twilight Zone" (1964) and "Perry Mason" (1964-1965).
 
Throughout his entire career he had roles in more than 200 motion pictures and numerous television appearances.  His final screen role was in 1966 in an episode of, "Batman". 
 
He married twice, his first wife, Jessie Lawson from 1910 till she passed away in 1958 leaving him to father two sons on his own.  He then married again at the age of seventy to Patricia Mowbray, only twenty eight years old, in 1960 and they were married until he passed away on April 2nd, 1974 in Woodland Hills, California after suffering from a heart attack.  His remains are buried at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in North Hollywood, California.
