DOUG MCCLURE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Doug McClure was born on May 11th, 1935 in Glendale, California with the birth name Douglas Osborne McClure, to parents Donald Reed McClure and Clara Clapp. After High School he received his college education at UCLA and then went on to pursue a career as an actor.
McClure is most well known for his role on the television series "The Virginian" (1962) playing Trampas. Throughout his long career he made more than 500 appearances on television and in films. Some of his better television roles were on, "Backtrack!" (1969), "Overland Trail" (1960), "Checkmate" (1960-1962), "26 Men" (1958-1959) and "Search" (1972-1973).
Along with his numerous television roles, McClure was also seen on the big screen in such films as "The Kings Pirate" (1967), "The Enemy Below"(1957), "South Pacific" (1958), "The Unforgiven" (1960), "Because They're Young", " At the Earth's Core" (1976), "The Land That Time Forgot" (1975), and "The People That Time Forgot" (1977).
Along with a long resume of film and television success, he also did some commercial work such as for, Hamms Beer. As his career progressed he was diagnosed with lung cancer, however he did not let that stop him from doing what he loved most, acting and taking on challenging new roles. Some of his later work in his career were roles on the television series, "Maverick" (1994), "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" (1993) and "Burke's Law" (1995).
McClure married five different times during his lifetime. His first wife was Faye Brash whom he wed in 1957 and they had one child before divorcing in 1961. His second wife was Barbara Luna whom he wed December 17th, 1961 and they were only together for two years and had no children. He then chose to marry for a third time to Helen Crane in 1965 and they divorced in 1968. McClure again took a chance on marrying another woman, wife number five was Diane Soldani in 1970 and they too had one child together before this marriage did not survive either and ended in 1979. His fifth and final wife was Diane Furnberg from August 27th, 1979 through his passing on February 5th, 1995 in Sherman Oaks, California after he died from lung cancer at the age of fifty nine and his remains are buried at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for television in 1994, just shortly before he passed away.
