Diane Keaton ACTOR

Diane Keaton was born on January 5th, 1946 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Diane Hall, born to parents Dorothy and Jack Hall.  She first became involved in acting when she witnessed her mother win the, "Mrs. Los Angeles" pageant for homemakers.  After graduating from Santa Ana High School she went on to study Drama at Santa Ana College and then transferred to Orange Coast College to study acting.  However before earning her degree, she chose to relocate to New York and continue her acting education at the Neighborhood Playhouse.
She began with working as a stage actor in summer stock to gain some experience and soon she felt ready for Broadway.  Her first Broadway role was in a production of, "Hair", followed by Woody Allen casting her in, 'Play It Again, Sam" (1972).
Soon, Keaton was appearing on such films as, "Play it Again, Sam" (1972), "The Godfather" (1972), "Sleeper" (1973), "The Godfather Part II" (1974) and "Love and Death" (1975).  In 1977, she won her first Golden Globe nomination with her role in the film, "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" (1977) and then she won the Oscar and British Award for Best Actress for her role in the film, "Annie Hall" (1977).
In the late 70's, her relationship with Woody Allen came to an end, however, Keaton did not stop working in the industry and she continued to be seen on the big screen in such films as, "Reds" (1981) and "The Little Drummer Girl" (1984).  Her film, "The Little Drummer Girl" was not very successful, however her role in, "Mrs. Soffel" was received well by critics.
She also pursued her interest in singing and her first recording was an original cast of, "Hair" in 1971.  She also had an interest in photography and in 1980 her book, 'Reservations' which was a collection of hotel interiors was published.
Along with her acting, since roles were beginning to slow down, she also became involved in he other side of the industry as a director.  In 1987 she directed the documentary, "Heaven" followed by a couple episodes on various television programs such as, "CBS Schoolbreak Special" (1990) and "Twin Peaks" (1991).  She also directed a couple music videos for such artists as, Belinda Carlisle.
On occasion, Keaton would return to the industry making appearances on such films as, "The Godfather: Part III" (1990), "Father of the Bride" (1991)," Manhattan Murder Mystery" (1993), "Father of the Bride II" (1995) and "Unstrung Heroes"(1995).
Some of her latest film roles have been in, "Hanging Up" (2002) which she also directed.  She was also seen on the big screen in, "Town & Country" (2001), "Something's Gotta Give" (2003), directed by Nancy Meyers, "The Family Stone" (2005), "Because I Said So" and "Mamma's Boy" both released in 2007.  Soon to release in 2012 are her latest film roles in "Darling Companion" and "The Wedding".
Diane Keaton's most known romance was with director Woody Allen, although they never married, but she does have two adopted children, Dexter and Duke Keaton.  She was also involved with Warren Beatty and Al Pacino
In 1995, Keaton was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the, "100 Sexiest Stars in Film History".  She continues to work in the industry as an actress and director.  She also continues to pursue her interest in photography and has since published some more of her work.  Along with everything else she is involved in, Keaton is also a real estate developer.
