DENNIS QUAID BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Dennis Quaid was born on April 9th, 1954 in Houston, Texas with the birth name Dennis William Quaid, born to parents William and Nita Quaid. During high school days at Bellaire High in Bellaire Texas, he studied drama and then went on to college at the University of Houston, however, he soon dropped out in pursuit of a career in acting.
He relocated to Los Angeles, California and began searching for work. His brother, Randy Quaid was already working in the industry but he was having a much harder time breaking into the business.
His first big break was in the film, "Breaking Away" (1979) which soon followed with roles in such films as, "The Right Stuff" (1983), "Enemy Mine' (1985), "Innerspace" (1987), "Great Balls of Fire" (1989), "Wyatt Earp" (1994), "The Parent Trap" (1998), "Any Given Sunday" (1999), "Frequency" (2000), "The Rookie" (2002), "Far From Heaven" (2002), "Flight of the Phoenix" (2004) and "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004).
Although his film career was going well, he did have a time where he was highly addicted to cocaine, however, he was able to overcome his addiction.
Along with his acting career, Quaid is also a talented musician and has a band, "Dennis Quaid and the Sharks". He wrote three songs for the films, "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" (1981), "Tough Enough" (1983) and "The Big Easy" (1986).
Some of his more recent film roles have been in, "Vantage Point" (2005), "G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009), "Pandorum" (2009) and soon to release, "The Words" (2012), "Playing the Field" (2012) and "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (2012).
Quaid has married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was P.J. Soles from 1978 through 1983. He then married, actress, Meg Ryan from 1991 through 2001 and together they had one child. His third wife whom he is still married to today is Kimberly Quaid. They married in 2004 and have two twin children together.
Dennis Quaid was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in 2005. Quaid also won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in, "Far From Heaven" (2002).
He is also involved in a number of charitable causes such as lending his name to the annual, "Dennis Quaid Charity Weekend" which is a golf tournament that brings in a number of celebrities and the proceeds help various children's charities.
