DAVID CARUSO BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
David Caruso was born on January 7th, 1956 in Forest Hills, New York with the middle name Stephen, born to Charles and Joan Caruso. He received his early years education from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and then graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in 1974.
Caruso then began to become involved in the entertainment industry first working on a number of commercials before he began to break into the film industry. Some of his early film roles include, "Getting Wasted" (1980), "Without Warning" (1980), "An Officer and a Gentleman" (1982) starring Richard Gere, Debra Winger and Louis Gossett Jr., "First Blood" (1982) starring Sylvester Stallone and Brian Dennehy, "Thief of Hearts" (1984), "Blue City" (1986), "China Girl" (1987) and "Twins" (1988).
In addition to his supporting roles in films, he began to make more of a name for himself in the television industry. Some of his early television roles include, "Hill Street Blues" (1981), "Crime Story" (1986) and one of his most well known roles, "NYPD Blue" (1993), a role for which he won a Golden Globe Award.
Interestingly enough, even though he had never had any major starring film roles, since his television work had become more successful, he began to develop the reputation of being difficult to work with on set. Caruso wanted to prove Hollywood wrong and therefore, he announced that after only working one season on the highly successful television series, he was going to leave and pursue films fulltime.
During this time he focused 100 percent on films only appearing in, "Kiss of Death" (1995), "Jade" (1995), "Gold Coast" (1997), "Cold Around the Heart" (1997) and "Body Count" (1998).
Again, he began to see that even focusing on films only were not really doing much for his career. He continued flipping back and forth between television and film adding other small supporting film roles to his resume such as, "Proof of Life" (2000), "Session 9" (2001) and "Black Point" (2002).
Finally, after being involved in the entertainment industry for over twenty years, he got his really big break when he was cast on the television series, "CSI: Miami" (2002-2012), portraying Lieutenant Horatio Caine. Since this series aired he has been the starring role on such series as, "CSI: NY" (2005) and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2002-2009).
Although, finally his professional life has reached the level of success he had hoped for, his personal life is still not as successful. Caruso has married three times. His first wife was Cheri Maugans whom he wed in 1979 and divorced in 1984. He then married Rachel Ticotin in 1984 and they had one daughter before the marriage came to an end in 1987. His third wife was Margaret Buckley whom he married in 1996 and again by 2007, another marriage had come to an end. He also has two other children from a relationship with Liza Marquez.
David Caruso currently continues working on the "CSI" series and owns homes in Los Angeles, California as well as Miami Beach, Florida and resides with his current girlfriend, Amina Islam.
