David Canary ACTOR

David Canary was born on August 25th, 1938 in Elwood, Indiana with the middle name Hoyt.  He was raised in Ohio and has one brother, John who also pursued a career in the industry.   
After graduating from Washington High School he earned a football scholarship to study ay the University of Cincinnati and earned a degree in music.  He then realized his interest in acting and his talent in music and therefore relocated to New York in pursuit of work.
He began working as a stage actor first working in summer stock and then working in a stage chorus until he made his Broadway debut in a production of, "Great Day in the Morning".  His acting career was soon put on hold with the draft for the United States Army.  Upon completing his service, he returned right back to pursuing a career in the industry.
He became most well known for his role as Candy, the ranch foreman in the television series, "Bonanza" as well as for his role on the soap opera, "All My Children" where he has been working since 1983 playing the twin brother character, Stuart.
Some of his earlier roles were on such films as, "Hombre" (1967) starring Paul Newman, "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre" (1967) and Cimarron Strip" (1968).  He also appeared on the television series, "Gunsmoke" (1967) and "Peyton Place" (1965-1966).   
Along with gaining experience in the industry as a film and television actor he also was given a chance to perform on Broadway in a production called, "Great Day In The Morning" and "Clothes For A Summer Horse".  Later in life he added to his resume stage credits in the plays, "Kismet", "Man of La Mancha" and "The Seagull" among others.
Thus far throughout his career David Canary has also appeared on such television series as, "Primas", "Law & Order", "Alias Smith and Jones", "S.W.A.T", "Hawaii Five-O" and "Another World".
Throughout his lifetime he has married twice.  His first wife was Julie M. Anderson whom he wed in 1965 and after having one daughter together, this marriage came to an end in 1971.  He then married his present wife, Maureen Maloney in 1982 and the couple have two more children together, a son Christopher and a daughter, Katy.
He has received a number of honors throughout his career in the industry such as being nominated sixteen times for daytime Emmy's and out of those he has taken home five Emmy's. 
Although his last known works was as a regular on "All My Children" he has now departed the soap opera.  He also recently appeared on the television HBO show, "Curb Your Enthusiasm".  David continues to work in the industry and take on good roles that come his way.
