DABNEY COLEMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Dabney Coleman was born on January 3rd, 1932 in Austin, Texas with the birth name Dabney Wharton Coleman. He was born to parents Mary Wharton and Melvin Randolph Coleman. After completing high school, Coleman went on to study at the Virginia Military Institute and then enrolled at the university of Texas to pursue a degree in law. Before he completed his degree he decided to switch majors to drama and then chose to pursue a career as an actor.
He relocated to New York City and over time he added over sixty film credits and a large amount of television credits to his resume. Some of his earlier roles were mostly on television on such series as, "Naked City" (1961), "Ben Casey" (1963), "Breaking Point" (1963), "Kraft Suspense Theatre" (1964) and "Dr. Kildare" (1964).
As time progressed he continued to gain a huge amount of popularity and was seen on television quite often with appearances on, "Run for Your Life" (1967), "I Dream of Jeannie" (1965-1967), "The Invaders" (1967) and "Dundee and the Culhane" (1967).
Along with television, he was cast in a variety of film roles such as, "Downhill Racer" (1969), "I Love My Wife" (1970), "Bite the Bullet" (1975), "Rolling Thunder" (1977), "Tootsie" (1982) and "WarGames" (1983).
Dabney was awarded an Emmy for his role in the television movie, "Sworn to Silence" (1987) and also appeared in a number of other television movies such as, "That Girl" (1966), "Pray TV" (1980), "Callie & Son" (1981)
Some of his latest roles were in the film for the remake of the television show, "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1993), voiceover work for, "Recess" (1997), "Inspector Gadget" (1999) and "Stuart Little" (1999) and in the film, "You've Got Mail" (1998). He has also worked on a number of television series towards the later part of his career such as, "Courting Alex", "The Guardian", "Heartlands" and "Law & Order".
He has married twice throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Ann Courtney Harrell whom he wed in 1957 but only stayed married to her for two years. He then married actress, Jean Hale in 1961 and they had four children together, Meghan, Randy, Quincy and Kelly and remained married until 1984. He has not chosen to re-marry again and currently resides in Los Angeles, California in an upscale area known as Brentwood. His latest role has been as a recurring character on the television series, "Boardwalk Empire" (2010-2011).
