CORBIN BERNSEN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Corbin Bernsen was born on September 7th, 1954 in North Hollywood, California with the birth name Corbin Dean Bernsen.  He was the oldest of three children born to parents, Harry Bernsen, a Television and film producer and Jeanne Cooper a soap star actress.

Being raised in Hollywood and well accustomed to the exposure of the entertainment industry, Bernsen actually did not intend to pursue a career in the industry.  After he earned his high school diploma from Beverly Hills High School he went on to study at the UCLA originally with a goal to pursue a career in law.  However, after spending some time studying law he switched majors and graduated with a BFA in Theatre Arts and an MFA in Playwriting.

Bernsen then began to find work in Los Angeles as a set designer and also received some acting roles beginning with a bit part in "Clambake" (1967) starring Elvis Presley, Shelley Fabares, Bill Bixby, Will Hutchins, Gary Merrill and James Gregory.  His first major film role was in 1974 in, "Three the Hard Way" starring Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Jim Kelly and Alex Rocco.  He then relocated to New York City, found work as a model, continued to pursue acting but also supported himself working as a carpenter and roofer.

Soon he began to get cast in better roles such as on the television soap opera, "Ryan's Hope" (1975) and he was also given a chance to host, "Saturday Night Live" in 1975.  As his career progressed he was seen on the big screen in such films as, "Hello Again" (1987) starring alongside Shelley Long, Judith Ivey, Gabriel Byrne, Sela Ward, Austin Pendleton, Carrie Nye, Robert Lewis, Madeleine Potter, Thor Fields and Illeana Douglas, "Bert Rigby: You're a Fool" (1989) co-starring Robert Lindsay, Robbie Coltrane, Anne Baxter, Cathryn Bradshaw and Bruno Kirby, "Disorganized Crime" (1989) starring with Fred Gwynne, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ruben Blades, William Russ, Ed O'Neill, Daniel Roebuck and Hoyt Axton, "Major League" (1989) starring Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes, Rene Russo and James Gammon and the television movie, "Line of Fire: The Morris Dees Story" (1991) which also starred Jenny Lewis, Sandy Bull, Angela Bassett, James Staley, Casey Biggs, James Parks, Harold Sylvester and John M. Jackson.

Along with working as a film actor, he gained a large amount of popularity with his role on the television series, "L.A. Law" (1986) and later also made appearances on such soap opera's as, "General Hospital" and "The Young and the Restless".

Other film roles he added to his resume were, "Shattered" (1991) co-starring Tom Berenger, Greta Scacchi, Bob Hoskins and Joanne Whalley, "Grey Knight" aka "Ghost Brigade" (1993) starring Martin Sheen, Adrian Pasdar, Billy Bob Thornton and David Arquette, "The Dentist" (1996) starring with Molly Hagan, Mark Ruffalo, Ken Foree, Jan Hoag and Lise Simms, "An American Affair" (1997) also starring Jayne Heitmeyer, former James Bond girl Maryam d'Abo and Robert Vaughn and "Carpool Guy" (2005) which he not only starred in but also directed and produced.

He has not slowed down in his career and has had a number of recurring roles on such series as, "The West Wing" (1999), "JAG" (1995), "Cuts" (2005), "Psych" (2006), "Castle" and "Criminal Minds" (both 2011).  Bernsen has also worked on a variety of television movies such as, "Vipers" (2008), "Confessions of a Go-Go Girl" (2008) and "For the Love of Grace" (2008).

In 1988 he married his 2nd wife, British actress, Amanda Pays and they have four children together.  They have also appeared together in the films, "Spacejacked" (1997) and the television movies, "Dead on the Money" (1991) and "The Santa Trap" (2002).  He was married once before to Brenda Cooper from 1983 through 1987.

He continues to work in the industry not only as an actor, but also as a producer, writer and director.  He has directed, "Carpool Guy" (2005), "Donna on Demand" (2009), "Dead Air" (2009), "25 Hill" (2011) and soon to be released in 2012, "Barlowe Mann" and "3 Day Test" which he not only directed but wrote and produced as well.
