CLINT EASTWOOD BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Clint Eastwood was born on May 31st, 1930 in San Francisco, California to parents, Clint Eastwood Sr. a steelworker and Ruth Eastwood, a factory worker. His family settled in Oregon and he attended Piedmont Jr. High School, Piedmont High and graduated with his High School diploma in 1948, from Oakland Technical High. Eastwood moved to Seattle and found work as a lifeguard and a swimming instructor for the military in 1951.
In the mid 1950's he developed an interest in acting and began getting small bit parts in mostly 'B' rated films making his film debut in "Francis in the Navy" (1955) starring Donald O'Connor. Soon Universal Pictures signed him as a contract player and he worked on such films as, "Revenge of the Creature" (1955) and a decent television role on the series, "Rawhide" (1959) which he remained as cast member Rowdy Yates for six years.
As his career progressed so did his level of stardom with a number of decent film roles on such big screen hits as, "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964), "For a Few Dollars More" (1965), "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966), "Hang 'Em High" (1968), "Paint Your Wagon" (1969), "Kelly's Heroes" (1970) and "Two Mules for Sister Sara" (1970).
Eastwood was not only an amazing actor, but also had a talent for directing. In 1968 he started his own production company called, Malpaso Productions and their first release was, "Hang 'Em High" in 1968. He was also involved in a number of other projects such as, "Play Misty For Me" (1971) and "High Plains Drifter" (1973) which he not only directed but also appeared in.
His career never slowed down and the roles he played just continued to get bigger and better. Eastwood worked on more films throughout the 70's and 80's such as, "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" (1974), "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976), "The Gauntlet" (1977), "Every Which Way But Loose" (1978), "Escape From Alcatraz" (1979), "Pale Rider" (1985) and "Pink Cadillac" (1989).
After filming a disappointing film, "The Rookie" (1990) his career started to see a decline in his level of stardom and public appeal. However, he did not let this detour him from pursuing what he knew best and in 1992, Eastwood made a comeback with his first western film, "Unforgiven" which earned him not only an Oscar for Best Director and producer but also a nomination for Best Actor.
He followed this boost of success with yet another highly well received film, "In the Line of Fire" (1993) and yet again in, "The Bridges of Madison County" (1995) which starred Meryl Streep. In 2004, what many say is so far the best film of his career, he starred in, "Million Dollar Baby" alongside Hillary Swank and Morgan Freeman. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture and earned him another Best Actor nomination and a win for Best Director, making him the oldest person at the age of seventy four to win this honor.
Eastwood's career was at an all time high and he decided to enjoy things for a while and take a four year break from the industry. Upon his return on 2008, another hit film was accomplished, "Gran Torino" (2008), which grossed 30 million Dollars in it's first opening weekend.
To this day, Eastwood continues to work in the industry, mostly as a director and remains married to his second wife, Dina Eastwood whom he wed on March 31st, 1996 and together they have one child. He has two children from his first marriage to Maggie Johnson whom he married in 1953 and divorced in 1984. In total, Eastwood has seven children by five different women.
Throughout his career he has had received a number of honors and awards such as an honorary César Award in Paris, France, for his body of work in 1998 and a recipient of John F. Kennedy Center Honors in 2000.
Clint Eastwood has always maintained a healthy lifestyle and even though he is seen on screen in many of his films with a cigarette in hand, he is actually a non smoker of screen. He also has other interests such as being a talented piano player and is a partial owner of the Pebble Beach Golf Country Club in Monterey Peninsula, California and own the inn Mission Ranch in Carmel California.
Along with a successful acting and directing career, Eastwood also managed to serve as the Mayor of Carmel, California for one term and in 2010 he was awarded the American National Medal of Arts for his services and contributions to the arts.
