CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Christopher Plummer was born on December 13th, 1929 in Toronto, Ontario Canada with the birth name Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer to parents Isabella Mary and John Orme Plummer. He was an only child and as a young boy his parents divorced and he was raised at the Abott family home in Senneville, Quebec.
As a young boy he loved to play the piano and wanted to pursue a career as a concert pianist, however in High School he also developed an interest in acting and soon joined the Canadian Repertory Theatre in Ottawa.
Plummer ended up having an amazing career in the entertainment industry, one the lasted over five decades and where he worked in all aspects of theater, film and television. He is most well known for his stage performance in the musical "The Sound of Music" portraying Captain Georg von Trapp. Some of his other theater roles were in "Cyrano", "Amphitryon 38", "Inherit the Wind" and "Caesar and Cleopatra".
It was not until the mid 60's that he really earned critics attention in the film industry when he took roles on such big screen features as, "Cleopatra" (1963), " Murder By Decree" (1979), "The Silent Partner" (1978) and "The Insider" (1999).
Plummer excelled as an actor taking on the majority of character parts, although, he never reached the level of stardom that some other leading males of his time such as Gary Cooper and Paul Newman.
Some of his latest film roles were in "A Beautiful Mind" (2001), "Inside Man" (2006), "The Last Station" (2009), "Up" (2009), The Imaginarium of Doctor" (2009) and "Priest" and "Five Good Years" (both 2011).
Throughout his career, Plummer has won two Emmy Awards, one Genie Award and two Tony Awards. Presently, Plummer continues to act and is a very highly demanded character actor. Most of his time is spent still living in the United States, however he has never given up his Canadian citizenship.
He currently resides with his third wife, Elaine Taylor on a 30-acre estate in Weston, Connecticut. He was married two other times, first to Tammy grimes from 1956 through 1960 and they have his only biological child, Amanda Plummer who is also an actress. He then married Patricia Lewis from 1962 through 1967.
