CAMERON MITCHELL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Cameron Mitchell was born on November 4th, 1918 in Dallastown, Pennsylvania with the birth name Cameron McDowell Mitzell.  His father was a minister and he was raised in Millerstown, Pennsylvania. 
 
He did a little bit of acting appearing on Broadway and also an experimental television broadcast called, "The Passing of the Third Floor Back".  Cameron then joined the Air Force during World War II serving as a bombardier.
 
When he completed his service he returned to acting and made his film debut on, "What Next: Corporal Hargrove" (1945) and also continued to work as a stage actor simultaneously.  He acted in the stage version of, "Death of a Salesman" and followed with doing the screen version as well in 1951.   
 
In total, Mitchell was in over 300 film and television appearances.  Some of his film work includes, "The Mighty McGurk" (1947), "The Tall Men" (1955), "They Were Expendable" (1945) starring John Wayne, "Flight to Mars" (1951), "The Unstoppable Man" (1960), "Hombre" (1967) starring Paul Newman, "My Favorite Year" (1982) and "Trapped Alive" (1993).  He is best known for his role in, "The High Chaparral" (1967) which was a television series.  Cameron also appeared on, "Bonanza" and "S.W.A.T."
 
Cameron Mitchell married three times throughout his lifetime.  First to Joanna Mitchell from 1940 through 1960 and they had four children together, Robert, Camille, Cameron and Fred.  He then briefly married Lisa Mitchell and his third wife was Margaret Mozingo Mitchell from 1973 through 1976 when they annulled their marriage.  Mitchell did not remarry again and on July 6th, 1994 he passed away in the Pacific Palisades in California from lung cancer.  Cameron Mitchell is buried at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City located in Riverside County, California.
