C. MONTAGUE SHAW BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

C. Montague Shaw was born on March 23rd, 1882 in South Australia with the birth name Charles Montague Shaw.  His career in acting began as a stage performer and he joined a repertory theater where he traveled throughout Australia as well as later to Great Britain.

He gained a number of years as a actor on the London stage and in 1926 he began his career in the film industry appearing on such shorts as, "The Set-Up" (1926) and "The Blue Boy" (1926).

Shaw then began adding full length feature films to his resume appearing in, "A Tale of Two Cities" (1935) starring Ronald Colman, Donald Woods, Edna Mae Oliver, Elizabeth Allan, Basil Rathbone, Reginald Owen, Tully Marshall, Walter Catlett and H. B. Warner, "Ace Drummond" (1936) starring John 'Dusty' King, Jean Rogers, Noah Beery Sr. and Lon Chaney Jr., "Undersea Kingdom" (1936) starring Ray 'Crash' Corrigan, Monte Blue, Lane Chandler, Jack Mulhall, Lois Wilde, Smiley Burnette, Raymond Hatton, William Farnum and Lon Chaney Jr., "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars" (1938) starring Larry 'Buster' Crabbe, "Zorro's Fighting Legion" (1939) starring Reed Hadley, Sheila Darcey, William Corson, Edmund Cobb and John Merton and "Daredevils of the Red Circle" (1939) starring Charles Quigley, David Sharpe, Carole Landis, Fred 'Snowflake' Toones, George Chesebro, Herman Brix (better known under his subsequent stage name, Bruce Bennett) and Charles Middleton.

Although he appeared in over 140 shorts and feature films, the majority of his roles were un-credited.  His final three film appearances were in, "Unconquered" (1947) starring Gary Cooper, Paulette Goddard, Howard Da Silva, Boris Karloff, Cecil Kellaway, C. Aubrey Smith, Henry Wilcoxon, Virginia Grey, Mike Mazurki and Ward Bond, "Road to the Big House" (1947) also starring John Shelton, Ann Doran, Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams and "The Pilgrimage Play" (1949) starring Nelson Leigh, Stephen Chase and John Doucette among many other stars.

Shaw passed away at the age of eighty five on February 6th, 1968 in Woodland Hills, California.
