BRUCE CABOT BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Bruce Cabot was born on April 20th, 1904 in Carlsbad, New Mexico with the birth name Etienne Pelissier Jacques de Bujac.  He was the son of French Col. Etienne de Bujac and Julia Armandine Graves, who sadly passed away shortly after giving birth to him.

After High School graduation he attended the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and left to travel the road working a variety of jobs ranging from sailor to working as an insurance salesman.

In 1931 he moved to Hollywood and found work as an actor on a number of films being cast in very small parts.  When he met, David O. Selznick who was RKO's producer, he was offered a small part as a dancer in the film, "Lady With a Past" (1932) followed by another small role in the film, "The Roadhouse Murder" (1932).

His most well known film role was in, "King Kong" (1933) in which he was Fay Wray's savior from King Kong.  He received a number of other supporting character roles in such films as, "Let 'em Have it" (1935), "The Last of the Mohicans" (1936) and "Fury" (1936).

Bruce was considered a working actor and was making a decent income but was never able to reach a high level of stardom.  He left acting briefly to serve in the military during World War II and as soon as he completed his service he returned right back to Hollywood.

He also worked with John Wayne on the film, "Angel and the Badman" 91947), but Wayne ended up getting the stardom that Cabot had longed for.

Bruce married a total of three times.  His first marriage was to Adrienne Ames from 1933 through 1937.  His second marriage was to Gracy Mary Mather Smith for a short while having only one child.  His third marriage was to Francesca De Scaffa who he divorced in 1951.  He did not marry again and he passed away on May 3rd, 1972 in Woodland Hills, California from lung and throat cancer at the age of sixty eight.  He is interred at Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
