BEAU BRIDGES BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Beau Bridges was born on December 9th, 1941 in Hollywood, California with the birth name Lloyd Vernet Bridges III. His father, Lloyd Bridges was an actor and he had a two younger siblings, one of which also became involved in acting, Jeff Bridges.
After High School, he attended college at UCLA and was on the basketball team for his first year, before transferring to the University of Hawaii. However, he never completed a college degree and instead, chose to drop out and pursue a career as an actor.
He got the nickname Beau from his parents after they were reading the book, "Gone With the Wind". His first real film role was in 1949 on the film, "The Red Pony". He then enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1959, and also served for eight years in the Coast Guard Reserve.
When he completed his service he went back to pursuing a career as an actor and worked on his father's CBS anthology television series, "The Lloyd Bridges Show" (1962-1963) with his brother Jeff. He also had a guest star appearance on, "12 O-Clock High" (1965).
Majority of his work was appearing with his father such as on fifteen episodes of the western series, "Hart of the West" (1993-1994). He also worked with his father on, "The Outer Limits" (1995) and "The Sandkings" (1995). His career continued with a recurring role on the series, "Beggars and Choosers" (1999-2000).
Bridges continues to act and has not slowed down yet. He was in the NBC television show, "Will & Grace" (2001) and also starred in the film, "Voyage of the Unicorn" (2001). During 2002 to 2003, Bridges appeared in over thirty episodes of the series, "The Agency".
In 2009 he won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for, "An Inconvenient Truth". He continues to act today with some of his latest work being in the film, "Columbus Circle" (2010), on the television show, "The Rockford Files" (2010) and currently the film, "Rushlights' (2011) in post production.
He has married twice, first to Julie Bridges from 1964 through 1984. Together they had two children. Beau then married Wendy Treece in 1984 and they remain together today and have an additional three children.
Along with still being a working actor, Bridges in very involved in environmental causes and handgun control. He serves as president of the environmental group called, Ventura Coast Keeper and was was honored in 2003 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
