ANTHONY LAPAGLIA BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Anthony LaPaglia was born on January 31st, 1959 in Adelaide, South Australia to parents, Maria Johannes and Gedio LaPaglia.  He has one younger brother who also pursued a career as an actor and one older brother.
 
After completing high school he went on to study at Rostrevor College and also studied acting at the South Australian Castings Agency.  He was also very involved in soccer in Australia playing the goal keeper in the National Soccer League. 
 
Later, LaPaglia made the move to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a career in entertainment.  Some of his early roles were in such films and television series as, "Amazing Stories" (1985), "Cold Steel" (1987), "The Enforcer" (1987), "Betsy's Wedding" (1990), "Innocent Blood" (1992), "So I Married an Axe Murderer" (1993), "The Client" (1994) and on the television series, 'Murder, She Wrote" (1995) playing the role of Jimmy Wyler.
 
Along with establishing a decent career as a television and film actor, he was also quite successful as a stage performer working in such productions as, "A View From the Bridge" and "Lend Me a Tenor".
 
Majority of his roles on television and film were portraying police officers or detectives and although he was raised in Australia and had a strong accent when he relocated to the United States, in order to take on more roles, he managed to lose his accent completely.
 
As his career progressed some of his more recent roles have been on such television series as, "Frasier" (2000-2004) and "Without a Trace" (2002-2009).  He was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Comedy Series, for his role on, "Frasier" playing the character, Simon. 
 
Recent film credits include, "Summer of Sam" (1999), "Looking for Alibrandi" (2000), "The Guys" (2002), "Balibo" (2009) and soon to release in 2012, "Django Unchained" and "A View From the Bridge".
 
He was married once before to actress, Cherie Michan but that marriage lasted a very short time.  He is currently married to his second wife, Gia Carides whom he wed in 1998 and together they have one child and resides in Santa Monica, California.
