ALBERT FINNEY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Albert Finney was born on May 9th, 1936 in Salfrod. Manchester, England to parents Alice Hobson and Albert Finney Sr. He received his early years education at Tootal Drive Primary School and Salford Grammar School.
He graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He first began his career in the acting industry as a stage performer making his stage debut in, "The Party" (1958). He was cast in a number of Shakespeare productions and soon began working in the film industry.
His film debut was in 1960 in, "The Entertainer" (1960) followed by a role in the film, "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning" (1960). In 1963 he was cast as the lead in, "Tom Jones" which he earned an Oscar nomination for his performance.
Also with working as an actor, he also formed a film company called, Memorial films where they would produce theatrical features such as, "Charlie Bubbles" (1967), "Gumshoe" (1971), "Bleak Moments" (1972) and "Law and Disorder" (1974) among others.
Along with working in films he continued to remain working as a stage actor. In the early 1980's he was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Statford-Upon-Avon in England where he worked for three seasons.
Some of his other starring film roles were in, "Murder on the Orient Express" (1974) and two musical films, "Scrooge" (1970) and "Annie" (1982).
Albert Finney has married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Jane Wenham whom he wed in 1957 and they had one child before, Simon. The marriage ended in 1961. His second time to marry was to Anouk Aimee in 1970 and they stayed together for eight years. He then married his present wife, Pene Delmage in 2006.
Finney has received a number of honors throughout his entertainment career such as the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1987 for Best Actor in a new play, "Orphans". He was also awarded a BAFTA and Emmy for Best Actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in, "The Gathering Storm". He has also won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a supporting role for, "Erin Brockovich" (2000) and for his role in the film, "Traffic" (2000).
Albert Finney continues to work in the industry with his latest role scheduled to release 2011 in, "The Rivals".
