Our game, created to challenge your knowledge of trivia about those wonderful old movies, television and radio programs found on the site, is open to play for all members of our Community.
There are questions like who won the Academy Award, who starred in a certain television program, and what year was a particular movie released.
Differing from many online games, MatineeClassics.com is offering more than just bragging rights for participating (although bragging can be fun). There will be weekly prizes and a grand prize at the end of the year. And the grand prize is not trivial - $20,000 in cash prizes!
Each week the player who has earned the highest score will be awarded a prize – a reproduction poster, or a T-shirt, a baseball cap with logo, etc for example.
And here's how the game is played…
All registered members of the Community have the opportunity to play Matinee Classics Trivia, so obviously you must first register as a member of our Community.
Each time you log in you will be able to click on the first set of ten questions in a category. The categories are movies, television, radio, and actors/directors.
When you have completed a set of ten questions you can move on to the next set of ten questions. And don't' skip any – all questions must be answered before you can proceed. One point will be awarded for each correct answer.
If you're not sure of the answer it's better to search the site rather than just guess because one-half point will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
YOU WILL NEED TO OPEN A NEW BROWSER WINDOW TO SEARCH SO THAT YOU DON'T LOSE YOUR PLACE ON THE GAMES PAGE.
When you complete a set of ten questions, click to advance to the next ten, and so on.
Your point totals will be updated after each set of questions, and we will maintain a running total so that you will be able to monitor how your score compares with other players.
The highest scoring players' scores will be posted to the main trivia game page so players can determine how close they are to winning.
All weekly games begin and end at Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) Saturday night.
There will be another running score total as the year progresses so all players will be able to determine their status in the yearly contest.
The annual contest will end at Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) on December 31st each year.
The $20,000 cash prizes at the end of the year will be awarded in U.S. dollars as follows:
The player who wins the most weekly contests in the year (with a minimum of 15 weeks won) will receive a $10,000 cash prize.
The player who has the highest cumulative total points for the year will receive the other $10,000 cash prize.
It is possible for a single player to win both $10,000 cash prizes, and therefore one individual could in fact win the full $20,000 cash prizes.
Everyone is welcome to play for the fun of it. However, you must be at least 18 years of age to receive the cash prizes.
Cash prize winners are responsible for any tax liability and it may be necessary to issue an Internal Revenue Service form1099 to all cash prize winners.
Employees of Matinee Classics LLC are ineligible from winning the cash prizes.
Matinee Classics LLC reserves the right to amend the rules from time to time as it deems appropriate and necessary to ensure the integrity and fairness of the game for all players.
